Cod China

Well, the hackers must have gotten bored of shooting us through walls, as now we're going on random excursions to China by jumping into a game of Call of Duty.

For years, old CoDs have become a modder's paradise, often ruining the experience for nostalgic fans by adding jetpacks or similarly wild features to games that shouldn't have such mechanics.

But now, players trying to access Black Ops 3 are reporting a variety of issues, one of which is that the servers are China-only.

Black Ops 3 servers get mass hacks

Old Call of Duty games were reactivated as Microsoft merged with Activision, gearing fans up to believe the entire CoD catalogue would be ready for a Game Pass release.

But for those trying to enjoy a bit of Black Ops 3 action before the release of Treyarch's sixth instalment of the series, they are facing a lot of issues. Taking to X and Reddit, a range of players have reported that the servers have been hacked.

One player revealed that all of the servers are being ported to Shenzhen, China, no matter where you're playing in the world. Worse than this, it leaves your accounts compromised.

Another user on Reddit claimed that their whole Discord channel was breached after playing Black Ops 3 and subsequently nuked by the hacker.

Others have been coming up against a variety of errors, all citing "Trojan" as the cause, whether that be through multiplayer or through Zombies.

The complaints seem to be for those playing through Steam rather than console, but Black Ops 3 appears to be a no-go zone for the time being.

Maybe if we stick around in China for long enough, though, we might slip into the Call of Duty: Online game that was never released in the West and had the series' first-ever battle royale mode, predating Blackout. Chris Evans is waiting.
