Modern Warfare 3 is ending its lifespan with a Terrifier crossover, befitting for the title's horror show launch.

Modern Warfare 3 got off to something of a horrifying start, with the Campaign early access being a fright for anyone who played it. It was much so that Activision has canned this trick-or-treat warm-up from Black Ops 6, containing the boggart until the game’s full release.

But the scares for Modern Warfare 3 are a distant memory, and we've actually been served quite a steady Call of Duty this year. Somewhat dull, but still steady.

In its curtain-closing season, MW3 is going full circle and digging out the spooks again as Art (the Clown) and Michael Myers pull you out of your skin and throw you into Black Ops 6.

Modern Warfare 3's final collab sees spooks go full circle

Modern Warfare 3 Season 6 is the last of its kind ahead of Black Ops 6 and will be the last time players get to use the skins they have accrued over the last two years (on multiplayer).

But Season 6 has pulled out some of the big guns and deployed the autumnal jesters out into the dark of the night. "Art the clown from Terrifier, Sam from Trick’n’Treat, Michael Myers from Halloween, and Smile possessed operators? Take my money," said one excited fan.

The official teaser for Season 6 confirmed that The Haunting event will return to see off MW3, but better yet, its trick-or-treat sack is full to bursting with horror movie references. Another joked about how these Halloween bundles are best-sellers, even for the most robust cosmetic haters.

"Me any other time: “I hate these goofy skins, why not just keep it mil-sim”. Me when I see my favourite horror characters: “There are exceptions to every rule”," they said. A third added, "Looks like a good send-off," reminiscing over MW3's reign.

Considering Black Ops 6 won't allow them to carry over (except in Warzone), most have stopped spending money on MW3 cosmetics. Still, the Halloween horrors seem to be hitting the right note for all players, and you can expect a jumpscare or two as you wave goodbye to the incumbent Call of Duty.
