Good news for the future of Call of Duty has cropped up, as it looks like Activision is further expanding Infinity Ward with a completely new studio focused on "new and innovative" experiences.

Infinity Ward is the studio behind some of the most successful Call of Duty games ever made, with Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare (2019) considered three of the most important and commercially successful games within the franchise.

While Modern Warfare 3 sales have dipped, Activision has still recognised this achievement, as a new team full of 'experts' is on the way to hopefully shake things up with new ideas in the future.

As reported by Eurogamer, an Activision job listing has indicated that a new studio within the Infinity Ward division is being opened in Austin, Texas - and they're looking for an 'Expert UI Engineer' to join the team.

The listing description states that "the studio will work on creating new and innovative experiences for Call of Duty and create state of the art technology to power them."

This gives no indication of what these 'new and innovative experiences' will be, but we could start to see glimpses of what's to come when the cycle rolls around again.

This likely won't be a team big enough to take on a mainline Call of Duty of their own like Treyarch or Sledgehammer, but as a part of Infinity Ward, we could see new inventive game modes like DMZ crop up in future titles or adjustments to contentious features like skill-based matchmaking.

New studio provides a positive environment

One additional aspect to note within the job description is the emphasis on creative freedom and safety within the job itself, which is certainly an appealing factor for many applicants.

It states that this new studio "provides a safe, trusting, and empowering environment to unleash your creativity and help make the extraordinary."

We all know that the best environment for fantastic work is one that people feel happy in - so hopefully, this means that a positive experience is on the way for anyone who finds themselves in Austin, especially after a year full of troubling stories and layoffs within the industry.
