Just when you think Capcom has run out of remakes and remasters, a surprise one comes crawling out of the woodwork. It might not be the long-rumoured Resident Evil 5 remake, but instead, it's time to revisit Dead Rising...again.

Capcom has just confirmed that 2006's Dead Rising is getting a facelift. You might remember the OG was remastered for Xbox One and PlayStation 5 in 2016, but proving it's not 'dead' yet, the developer is bringing the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster to even more platforms.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has a new Frank West

We'd previously heard that Capcom had plans for more remakes, but in a move few saw coming, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is jumping into our lives in the near future. There's no exact release date for the remaster, although we know it's coming later in 2024.

The trailer shows off some souped-up graphics and a glossy-looking modern reimagining that is said to be "an updated release with a brand-new look." Unfortunately, it looks like Frank West's new look comes without original voice actor TJ Rotolo.

There was a string of Dead Rising games, but after Dead Rising 4 in 2016 and Capcom Vancouver was shuttered in 2018, plans for a fifth game were canned. If we're lucky, another return visit to Willamette could remind Capcom (and fans) what made Dead Rising so great in the first place.

Either way, this is a welcome return to the often-forgotten Capcom gem, especially as the conversation around remakes and remasters tends to lean toward Dino Crisis or whether the devs will ever dare tackle a Resident Evil 6 remake.
