The weight of the entire Call of Duty franchise's future lies on the shoulders of one upcoming title, Modern Warfare 2. The 2022 game tips its hat back to the massively popular 2009 hit, and is possibly CoD's final opportunity to reignite the multiplayer experience. Infinity Ward is taking the reins for an entire two years, giving the annual releases their first-ever break.

While many remain optimistic that the multiplayer experience can be quick-revived, we might have to be sipping on some Juggernog for the next few years, in order to deal with the double-tap punches coming our way.

Censor Claims Modern Warfare 2 Development Is S**t

According to professional player Doug "Censor" Martin, Modern Warfare 2 development is "s**t", leaving the community in a state of panic.

Censor, who finished the first season of Call of Duty: Vanguard's ranked mode as the global leader, has been competing at the pinnacle of the esports scene for over a decade, representing teams such as Envy, FaZe Clan, OpTic, New York Subliners, and currently Boston Breach, albeit the latter is as a content creator, rather than an official player.

However, he remains one of the most popular players on the planet, and has now used his connections to get a damning inside scoop on how Modern Warfare 2 is shaping up.

Taking to a recent stream, Censor said, "So, from my sources, the game’s s**t. That’s my sources. I’m not leaking my sources, but I heard the game is s**t, and it’s from sources I trust."

"I’m cautiously optimistic" he added, "because you guys know I’m always optimistic about the new CoD, I’m cautiously optimistic this year."

While the game is not yet playable, many have taken the warning with a pinch of salt.

But, with two years as the main Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 2 cannot make the same mistake as Vanguard did by releasing an unfinished title filled with bugs that drove away the player count before it found its feet.
