As far as most Warzone players are concerned, Cluster Mines are just a pain in the backside - assuming that you use them for their correct purpose.

The bouncing-betty-like killstreak is seen as a coward's way out in a gunfight, laying them down on the ground in built-up areas, then cowering behind their impossible-to-dismantle myth.

But, it seems like there's more than what meets the mine, as Captain America would be proud of what one Warzone player has opted to use their Cluster device for.

Cluster Mines make for Warzone's own Captain America shields

Throwing knives have become quite the trend in Warzone, useful not only for downing enemies but also for getting a quick elimination before self-revives come into play too. More commonly, there's an abundance of Bloon's experts who think they're Glaive Thrower Towers in every lobby, bursting through the doors of Urzikstan's trusted strongholds.

One player has now found that Cluster Mines can actually serve as a full-blown shield against anyone who lays down bullets for blades, as the metal casing actually deflects the stainless steel. Taking to Reddit, u/Dull-Caterpillar3153 posted a video of them hurtling a knife towards an enemy.

The enemy held up a mine to deploy, which deflected the blade before being placed on the ground and blowing the player up. "This man intentionally anticipated my throwing knife and brought out the cluster mine to deflect it," the user sarcastically applauded. "Genius play from my opponent I must say."

Warzone players discover explosives protect against melee damage

Following the Reddit user's face-to-face fight with the Avenger, they also found out that other forms of equipment have the same effect in Warzone.

The likes of C4s and Portable Radars have similar effects, able to block throwing knives when timely activated, much akin to how Ammunition's Crates, Loudout Drops, and Debolyable Covers work.

Although most players use knives as a tool for eliminating downed players, if you really are struggling to stay alive after firing your final bullet, these field upgrades might be your one last slither of hope at staying alive and earning your spot. It's not only on the exfil out of Urzikstan, but in the next Marvel film.
