Warzone recently hit its fourth anniversary and it's led to a lot of the community looking back on the past and reminiscing on the good old days.

Whether that's weapons meta, glitches, or gameplay changes, it's fun to take a trip down memory lane and foundational changes that built the Battle Royale as we know it today.

Of course, the topic of maps has been brought up again, with players debating over which Warzone location is the greatest all-time.

You'd assume Verdansk would make that question an open-and-shut case but some of the community believe another map should take the crown.

Call of Duty fans divided over "best BR map of all time"

When you think of the golden era of Warzone, the majority of Call of Duty players will tell you it was Verdansk back at release. However, a recent Twitter post from CharlieINTEL asking fans for their opinion on the best location in Warzone's history has resulted in another popular nomination being put forward.

This contender is the Blackout map which is technically an unfair answer given it was never part of Warzone, but it's often brought into the conversation as it's part of the Battle Royale genre.

"Blackout is and always will be the answer," said one user, with another arguing "Let's be real blackout map surpassed all of these."

It’s worth noting that Verdansk got just as many callouts as Blackout, but it’s interesting that another map is starting to become a contender for the top spot. With Verdansk set to return to Warzone this year according to rumours, it will reveal whether the iconic location was viewed with rose-tinted glasses while it’s been unplayable.

Al Mazrah gets a shoutout for being the "best designed" map

Al Mazrah Warzone

Aside from Verdansk and Blackout, another map was given credit for being the best from a design point of view and that's Al Mazrah.

According to players, Al Mazrah was held back by gameplay issues and the meta as a whole, with a bunch of fans revealing they wouldn't mind seeing it make a return in the future.

"Al Mazrah was a great map it's definitely a contender for first place the whole Warzone 2 gameplay just sucked," said one user, with another claiming "Al Mazrah needs to come back with this movement because that map was a W the mechanics of the game itself ruined the experience of the map."

Overall though, Verdansk still holds the spot as the best map in the eyes of players, but after its long-awaited return, it's possible that may change.
