Weapons are arguably the most important aspect of a Call of Duty game, and that's certainly no different in Modern Warfare 3.
Unfortunately, Activision is unable to use the official names of weapons in real life due to legal reasons and copyright.
While the name of these guns does not affect their performance or how they feel to operate, the community still expects at the very least for the devs to come up with some "cool nicknames."
Well, in the eyes of the community, Sledgehammer has failed in MW3, creating gun names that make "no sense" and proving weapon titles are getting "progressively worse."
MW3 fans argue gun names are getting 'progressively worse'
Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user D_Ashido decided to argue that MW3's "gun names make no sense."
In their opinion, with every new Call of Duty, the "gun names get progressively worse," and while they acknowledge the gun titles have to be fake, they argue the devs could at least come up with some "cool nicknames."
Other fans agree, putting forward that "I always like it when they at least give them cool ass names, like the Tundra in CW, like that s**t sounds cool AF, but the f**k is MCW supposed to mean."
Certain members of the community are even drawing a line in the sand and claiming "I won't buy this game, fake guns and even more fake gun names are one of the reasons."
CoD players just want devs to be 'consistent' with fake names
Overall, a lot of Call of Duty players just want a level of consistency with the fake gun names, so there's a way of determining the platform and the type of weapon from their title.
"You can have fake gun names but they keep changing the fake gun names between each game for the same exact thing," said one user, with another arguing "Even within the same game they're wildly inconsistent, there are so many layers of issues at play here."
Instead of just randomly naming weapons, the community want the devs to create a system that ensures a form of consistency with fake names.
That way, it's not just a guessing game when you unlock a new weapon, especially when it's meant to be a classic gun from back in the day, like the ACR.
