Call of Duty players think they've cracked the code. After years of seeing different Warzone metas come into play, it's finally beginning to dawn on fans that there's a pattern to which guns are the best and why.
In the lead-up to one of the most broken Shotguns (courtesy of DOOM) that we've seen in these many years of action, Call of Duty fans are "100% sure" that the developers make newer weapons OP, only to nerf them down the line.
Warzone set to have another broken meta thanks to new weapons
Seldom has a gun come into the Call of Duty series through the live-action service and not be an instant hit. Think back to the Grau, the DMR, the Bruen, and even the entire Cold War weapon class when the Warzone integration happened. They've all been metas birthed off the back of brand-new arrivals.
Now, another weapon is prepared to make the same adjustment to the meta as the DOOM collaboration brings forth the Super Shotgun (Lockwood 300) blueprint, which is already one-shotting fully-armoured Warzone players in leaked footage.
The shotgun is set to be rolled out soon, but as the Lockwood 300 is already broken, fans are convinced that this trend is simply to ramp up sales on the DOOM collaboration - rather than relying on its aesthetics.
Warzone fans claim Call of Duty adds new and overpowered guns just to nerf them
Nearly 100% of voters in a 30,000 wide poll have agreed with the hypothesis that "Call of Duty purposefully makes certain weapons 'OP' to sell more bundles of a specific type and then nerf them later."
Taking to Twitter, ModernWarzone opened up the ballot to fans after seeing the new Super Shotgun in action, and fans have instantly agreed, with the percentage in favour of the statement now sitting at 95%.
"Yes that’s why the new season weapons are always the ‘recommended weapons," agreed CharlieIntel journalist Keshav Bhat. "100%... look at how the Lockwood 300 is insanely broken, and a little over 24 hours later, a bundle comes out for it," another fan added.
A third fan identified another time when this happened, saying, "The Godzilla STG skin was a perfect example. They sold the skin, let it fly for 2 weeks then the STG got nuked in a following update."
With Modern Warfare 3 on the horizon, it's likely that the Warone meta will be in for a major shakeup come November. You might want to get used to the new weapons quite quickly if you're buying the game, as they're certain to be the most powerful guns in the game for some time.
