While a lot of Call of Duty fans dislike the direction Activision is taking cosmetics in Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2, the inclusion of Tactical Pets with certain skins in Season 5 was met with overwhelming praise.

Included in the BlackCell offering is a dog called Merlin, who you can carry around with you when playing as the Arthur Operator.

At first, the community assumed that the furry companion was just there to help with your finishing move. However, it turns out the dog is more than capable of identifying enemies and sniffing out campers for their owner.

Taking to Twitter on August 5, popular Call of Duty account CharlieINTEL shared a video by content creator jamcowl of an opponent's dog snitching on their camping position.

While hidden in the corner of a room on top of a shelf, an enemy ran through the room that jamcowl was hiding in. However, as they ran past, Merlin started growling and the opponent grew suspicious.

Running through the room multiple times over and over, the dog continued to growl, indicating to the enemy that jamcowl was nearby. Before long, and after plenty of hints from the dog, the foe realised where jamcowl was and tried to kill him.

"He's got a doggo that was barking at him when he ran past me bro, he was using the dog, he was using the dog to find me," said the OP.

While certainly not overpowered, the Tactical Pets do offer a slight advantage to their owners in specific situations. One of which is identifying the presence of campers who are trying to remain hidden.

It's worth noting that the growl from the dog is only active when you have the High Alert perk equipped. Not only that, Cold Blooded appears to counter the effect, so if you're worried about getting growled at, consider running it in your loadout.

Finally, the growl can actually be heard by all enemies in the nearby area, so Merlin can also have a negative effect by giving away your position.
