Cyberpunk 2077's new DLC is nearly here, and already, the revamped sci-fi epic causing trouble. Who'd have thought? The first Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is coming with a new update to gear up for the presumed power that the Phantom Liberty adventure needs.

Once again, players have been asked to double and triple-check their hardware to make sure it's up to the task of managing the game. It's frustrating for players who had to live through the carnage of the game's initial launch.

Regardless, some players who could once run Cyberpunk effortlessly will suffer with the new update. And now, a new warning has been issued.

Cyberpunk players warned to start a new save with Phantom Liberty

A new warning has struck when it comes to Cyberpunk 2007 and its 2.0 update, and players have been assured that it'd be best for them to start a new save when gearing up to try Phantom Liberty.

The team made the announcement on the official CD Projekt Red Customer Service, suggesting that players start over when the new update comes in. Basically, there are so many changes coming to the game that it could do with a bit of a refresh.

"Hey, chooms!" reads the post. "While you'll be able to continue the game with your current character on an existing save, we recommend starting a new game after [Cyberpunk 2077] Update 2.0. Due to the number of changes, starting fresh will enhance your overall gameplay experience!"

This is fair enough given that there's so much new content to experience - but there are some that aren't so happy. But don't panic - there's some good news. Importantly, the revamped skill tree means it's better to start afresh with Phantom Liberty.

You don't have to beat Cyberpunk to play Phantom Liberty

Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

If you were nervous about having to run through the huge campaign again, fear not, You won't have to beat the entire campaign of Cyberpunk 2077 in order to play Phantom Liberty. If you've bought the DLC, you can access the content and narrative as long as you've finished the main game's Act Two, "I Walk The Line," Quest.

In Phantom Liberty, we get the introduction of the Dogtown district, while Jonny Silverhand takes on a new story adventure with Idris Elba's Solomon Reed. It's good news, but it it isn't keeping players from finding things to complain about. We'll call it cautious optimism given the expectations on player hardware.
