If Capcom's Resident Evil games have taught us anything, it's to expect the unexpected. We've long since left behind the cramped confines of the Spencer Mansion in favour of lumbering Tyrants, punching boulders, and towering vampire women. With 26 years of source material, it's no surprise the franchise could be coming back to Dead by Daylight.
Much like how Fortnite is known for its colourful crossovers, Dead by Daylight has a whole Necronomicon of serial killers and monsters to pick from. Since its debut in 2016, we've seen the likes of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface slash their way into the game. If that wasn't enough, others crossovers have welcomed IPs from Stranger Things to Ash vs Evil Dead to the fold.
Is Dead By Daylight Getting More Resident Evil?
Those who know their Trickster from their Twins will know we previously had plenty of Capcom content thanks to last year's Resident Evil DLC. Not content on adding the Tyrant as a Killer alongside Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as Survivors, a few more familiar faces could be set to join the asymmetrical horror.
A Chapter 24 reveal event and six-year anniversary livestream are just around the corner, and fans are ready to learn more about Chapter 24's The Dredge. We're also excited to find out what comes after. The Twitter account @DBDLeaks claims fan-favourites Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers will arrive in Chapter 25, with the infamous Albert Wesker as a Killer.
Of course, there will be those of us asking where is Lady Alcina Dimitrescu? Game Director Mathieu Côté as previously teased her arrival, so it's sad that if we're not getting her now, she might never arrive. Then again, it already seems like Capcom has given up on 2021's Resident Evil Village. We're still waiting for that mythical DLC.
What Have Fans Said About The Resident Evil Crossover?
Not everyone was impressed by another Resi DLC. One irate gamer raged: "Yay... over 50% of the community wanted FNAF, but sure...lets do another resident evil... just like real life, the series just keeps coming back no matter how bad the last one went." Another added, "If the second Resident Evil chapter is actually happening then i would've much preffered something from the newer REs. Someone like Jack Baker and the Baker farm as a map would be great."
Even if Resi-Heads are over the moon that a second crossover could be on the way, we'll admit that including Rebecca Chambers seems like an out-there choice when compared to someone like Chris Redfield. Still, the idea of going against a sneering Wesker in monster form and dashing around a Hive-inspired map sounds pretty good to us. We say give us all the Resi crossovers you want, but still, it's sad that we're no closer to Candyman and Pennywise.
