VALORANT and Overwatch are arguably two of the most love-or-hate shooters out there. The former has a lot of fans who appreciate the Agent abilities and creativity while many others hate the deviation from Counter-Strike's premise. The latter is carnage, too much for some while others marvel in the chaos.

In steps Deadlock, Valve's new take on a MOBA-shooter hybrid, and after already being dubbed as "better than VALORANT and Overwatch", its two comparison titles appear to have spread their marmite all over its face.

Already, in its testing phase, Deadlock has split opinions unequivocally, as some streamers have called it the "best third-person shooter ever" while others have claimed to prefer SMITE.

Shroud applauds 'addicting' Deadlock

Deadlock has had a lot of success so far after being released on Steam in its testing phase last week. Already it has peaked at 89,000 concurrent players and 118,000 viewers on Twitch, which is quite the opposite of PlayStation's Concord which has struggled to stay north of 1,000 players.

A lot of players have already fallen in love with it, Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek being one of them.

Despite having his own game in testing, Spectre Divide, the streamer and shooter game stalwart claimed that Deadlock is about to "take over", slating it as "the best third-person shooter ever".

"This is probably the best 3rd person shooter I've ever played...the game is gonna absolutely be addicting," he said on-stream.

"This game is easily - and I mean easily - going to take over when it comes out, it’s the first arena shooter/MOBA that is actually good," he added, casting shade over the likes of Overwatch.

But not everyone agrees.

Summit1g slams Deadlock, 'I'd rather play SMITE'

In the opposite camp comes another gaming guru, Jaryd "Summit1g" Lazar, whose shooter portfolio boasts its own commendations, even if it's not quite to the calibre of Shrouds.

Summit's experiences have been completely different, revealing "I can't stand this video game."

"It's worse than Overwatch for me, for sure," he said on stream, pained after dying.

"I actually hate this game," he continued. "I'm only playing to play with Shroud right now, I'm ready to quit though. I really don't like it. I really don't f**king like it. It makes me want to play SMITE."

Many other fans appear to be equally as divided, either adoring the game or despising it. Marmite in game form.
