It's going to be a scream, as Supermassive Games gives has us splitting up to hunt for clues in the delayed multiplayer for The Quarry. As a spiritual successor to Until Dawn, the 2022 game launched to much fanfare, but unfortunately, no multiplayer in June.

Ahead of us exploring the frights and frolics of Hackett's Quarry, Supermassive had already warned that The Quarry multiplayer would be a post-launch experience. Thankfully, unlike Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer or Halo Infinite co-op campaign, The Quarry was quick to get its promised multiplayer.

How Can You Play The Quarry Multiplayer?

Just before The Quarry released, Supermassive confirmed multiplayer wouldn't be there at launch. There was no reason given, so cue the usual moan from disgruntled players about an "unfinished" game dropping just so it can hit its release window. Now, you're welcome to the "Wolf Pack."

In The Quarry multiplayer, the host has general control of the campaign, while seven others vote on the choices made throughout the game. As you know with Supermassive titles, these decisions are literally life or death when it comes to The Quarry's characters. It launched with a local multiplayer where fans took turns in controlling the various movers and shakers, but now, we get a full multiplayer experience.

Confirming what's new, 2K confirmed Wolf Pack as an "invite-only mode" with up to seven friends. "With endless replayability already built into The Quarry's deep narrative experience, Wolf Pack offers a whole new take on the unimaginable choices you face during your journey, enabling you to experience the fright with friends."

Why Was The Quarry Multiplayer Delayed?

There was a valid reason behind The Quarry multiplayer delay, and for once, it wasn't down to a greedy or lazy publisher. In an interview with IGN, Creative Director Will Byles explained it was to get staff out of Ukraine and the conflict with Russia. "We had a bit of a weird thing with the multiplayer because... part of our team is based out in the Ukraine," said Byles. "So we had to delay the multiplayer because they had to move."

Despite having to pull your team out of a war, you still managed to deliver The Quarry multiplayer so soon after launch. We've got to applaud that one. Alongside multiplayer, The Quarry update also allows you to listen to the Bizarre Yet Bonafide podcast in-game. Those who own the Deluxe Edition will be given access to '80s-inspired character costumes. Basically, now could be a time to dive into The Quarry if you haven't already.
