Discord called out by employees on Glassdoor

Discord didn't need any more drama for the time being, but now staff at the company are rolling out to roast it on employer rating site Glassdoor.

For many, Discord is the place to be. With plenty of features that help gamers play together, organise squads, integrate workflows, and even cross over into the worlds of PlayStation and Xbox, companies, communities, and solo gamers alike have made Discord their home.

There's no doubt that the Skype-alike has revolutionised how gamers can interact with each other across any platform, and though it's no stranger to controversy, it hasn't stopped users from getting involved. Though staff members leaving scathing reviews of the company likely doesn't help.

With Discord rapidly burning down, Glassdoor reviews of the company further supports this "idea".

In a brand-new drama for the communications company, staff are rolling out on Glassdoor - a website designed so that employees can give honest and public ratings of their employers. Now, they're complaining about the inner workings of Discord.

As first pointed out in a post on Reddit, it's clear that workers at Discord aren't happy with their higher-ups. "Over the past 12 months I've really seen company culture plummet," says one current employee.

"First, we have constant turn over of leadership (especially with women) and strategy which means that everyone gets wildly mismanaged and it creates a dog eat dog environment where there is no set direction for where our strategy is going."

"Some departments are a mess — drowning in work that seems to have no impact," says another. "There doesn't seem to be a single focus — no real solidified vision we're working towards. We seem to work harder not smarter."

Discord is in seriously hot water

This controversy comes after the frustrating move that Discord has made to remove its number-based username system, allowing for multiple different users to occupy the same username while still being easy to find.

It now uses a regular username system, which is fairly common, but fans have grown incredibly frustrated by the move that many feel is nonsensical, and strips users of a lot of freedom. Of course, it's much more important that staff are having a rough time behind the scenes, fans are likely to view this as yet another domino that could see Discord's downfall.

If staff are feeling the way that these Glassdoor Discord reviews are indicating, then maybe it'd be for the best.
