Don't believe Starfield's Tom Cruise rumour

A weird rumour about Tom Cruise being part of Starfield isn't real, so don't believe he was attached to Bethesda's sci-fi favourite.

Nabbing Hollywood stars for video games is nothing new, with the likes of Keanu Reeves (Cyberpunk 2077), Brie Larson (Fortnite), and Norman Reedus (Death Stranding) being just a few examples. Bethesda's Starfield is poised to be one of the year's biggest games, but just imagine if Tom Cruise was part of it.

Bethesda's first new IP in over 25 years should be enough to get you talking, but there's a lot of pressure riding on the Xbox exclusive after Redfall crashed and burned. Having someone with the calibre of Tom Cruise on the books would've undoubtedly brought more attention - not that Starfield really needs it.

Tom Cruise was never part of Starfield

For those questioning why they haven't noticed someone as big as Tom Cruise in Starfield, that's because he was never part of the sci-fi epic. FandomWire, reported that Cruise was attached to Starfield but parted ways with it on bad terms.

The source links out to The Loadout, but if you check the original link, it clearly states that it was an April Fool's joke. Even if it wasn't for the massive disclaimer at the top, the quotes should've spoken for themselves.

The article reads as follows, "A reliable source said, 'He [Cruise] was so beside himself that he began to glitch up the walls', the source tells us. 'It was horrifying, it was like playing Skyrim all over again, again, again… again – but in 4K.'" If that wasn't enough, the April 1 publish date was a giveaway.

Starfield doesn't need Tom Cruise

Bethesda games have never been known for their A-list cameos because they don't really need them. We doubt having Nicki Minaj in Fallout would've really enhanced it much. Cruise is pretty busy anyway, what with him holding up the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Spreading falsehoods about Cruise falling out with Bethesda over a fictional Starfield rift probably isn't a good idea, still, it's a shame he isn't attached to the game. If you want your Tinsel Town fix, Idris Elba is attached to Cyberpunk's Phantom Liberty DLC

While Cruise has an impressive CV, he's never starred in a video game. Mission: Impossible costar Léa Seydoux appeared in Death Stranding, so just imagine if Cruise was in Hideo Kojima's upcoming sequel. Then again, he's probably too busy hanging off planes to be playing video games.
