Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2 proved itself to have great promise before its launch, and now that players are fully immersed in its world, they love exploring every corner of its extensive map - but that won't keep them from having some gripes.
The game's microtransaction approach has rubbed many players the wrong way, giving them a chance to steamroll the title if they're willing to pay after already shelling out on the AAA prices for the base game. Even the ongoing drama around fast travel with Dragon's Dogma 2 is still frustrating some players.
Despite the game's successes and impressive critic scores, it looks as though players feel they've been given the short end of the stick. In particular, the Xbox playerbase is about to be hit harder.
Dragon's Dogma 2's new update leaves out key features for Xbox
The first major update for Dragon's Dogma 2 has finally touched down, offering players plenty of features as long as some bug fixes. Unfortunately, Xbox owners are going to have to wait for it.
The new update has finally given players a chance to start a new game while they've already got a campaign on the go, which is a great touch for those who want to experience the story through the lens of different playstyles. However, there's one problem - the update isn't for Xbox players.
The Dragon's Domga 2 update has already launched on PC and PS5, and Capcom has added in the absence of the Xbox patch that "updates to Xbox Series X|S are planned in the next few days."
Even though it's only a matter of days, it's a pretty frustrating revelation for Xbox players, leaving them questioning why they've been left behind. Then again, maybe it's because there's more work to be done on that version of the game.
What's featured in the new Dragon's Dogma patch?
The patch notes for the new update have been listed on the (deeply un-optimised) Dragon's Dogma 2 website. It has revealed that along with the chance to start a new game, Capcom has changed the number of "Art of Metamorphosis" items available to 99.
The update also moves a quest that gives players their own dwelling closer to the start of the game and issues a number of bug fixes across all platforms, as well as some specific to PS5 and Steam. This is just the start of updates, with promises of future upgrades adding the likes of ray-tracing.
After Capcom was criticised for staying quiet on the microtransaction issue, at least it's good news that the team is on the ball with patches, even if it's leaving Xbox players in the cold. Hold fast, fantasy fans on Xbox, your time will come.
