To internet personalities who have never revealed their face, the face reveal is sadly a pretty big deal. Who knows how far into the spotlight the internet can bring someone, and when they're known by their face, it can entirely uproot their privacy.

It makes sense why influencers would want to keep their identity private, and as one popular personality has had to backpedal on revealing their face, it has been proved all over again that to be known online is a curse.

Dream has un-revealed his face

Though there's little that can be done about it because his visage has now officially made it onto the internet (a place that notoriously never forgets), Minecraft content creator Dream has decided to walk back his face reveal.

Dream has posted a new video revealing why he's made the decision, making jibes at the fact that he's getting quite a lot of hate for his appearance and that his friends think that he "fell off" when his iconic mask came off.

The video sees Dream in a new mask, boasting the image of his iconic white smiley face - which he supposedly intends to wear everywhere in public.

The video itself is presented as a joke, but the description is more candid. "After face revealing and removing my mask, I regretted the attention and hate, and am walking it back," he says.

"I will slowly be deleting all pictures of me online, and going back to just being a gamer in a mask. Starting with my Mr Beast Video, and my Face Reveal video, 'hi, I'm Dream'. I will be walking it back. I will be getting rid of everything other than my new mask."

It's bold to suggest Dream will be wearing the mask everywhere, especially as he'll likely be more recognisable that way - but whatever he needs to do to feel comfortable on the internet again is fair. The internet is a cruel place, and this is just further proof.
