Icons are set for a massive overhaul in EA Sports FC, as the publishers have confirmed a new approach to the legends of football and their respective cards.

Always a fixture in many FUT Champs teams, Icons are being nerfed somewhat in EA FC 24, as they are scrapping the Prime cards and will simply just have one variant of the Icons, meaning whichever rating they are dealt with will be the final say.

So with a lot of anticipation surrounding Icons ratings, a new leak has emerged about newly-added players, and it's quickly splitting fans.

New EA FC 24 Icons leaked for Ultimate Team

While many thoughts will be edged towards how the likes of R9, Pele, and other top-ten players of all time will fare, a new leak is showing off eight new icons that will be added to the ever-expanding list.

According to renowned leaker FutSheriff, five women Icons have been selected, and three men will also be added to the roster of legendary players rolling back the years.

Amongst the list is 1966 World Cup-winning captain Bobby Charlton, who will be an instant favourite with English fans, although he is out-rated by US Women pioneer Mia Hamm.

But the list isn't all good, as some fans have claimed some of the stars have been hard done by.

New EA FC 24 Icons are dividing fans' opinions

Although Hamm and Charlton's additions are favourable to fans, many have already ousted Ribery as being disrespected at the measly 88 rating.

"88 for Ribery is criminal," one fan said on Twitter, while another added, "Zico and Ribery robbed."

Many fans felt that Zico also deserved a higher pace stat, while Ribery's whole card should be at least over 90.

On the other hand, though, the 90-rated Abily has already blown away fans with a near-perfect set of scores on the card stats, with only her physicality dipping just below the 80 mark to miss out on being in Gullit-gang.

It's not yet known whether Icons will get upgrades in certain promos, so there may be hope to see Ribery get some well-deserved love.

But for now, it's go Hamm or go home.
