While EA FC 25's Career Mode will be adding live-service elements through its new Live Start Points feature, the team told me that the idea isn't to compete with the popularity of Ultimate Team Mode.
To that end, there's a very welcome change coming with this year's game that might have more players dipping into both modes.
EA FC 25 will add Career Mode objectives to the season pass
EA FC's Season Pass has traditionally been focused solely on playing Ultimate Team, letting players earn rewards like currency and packs at fairly regular increments through each season.
That's meant Career Mode devotees like myself have often felt like we're not earning our way to shiny new cards, despite putting hours upon hours into the game.
Thankfully, EA FC 25 will make some sizeable changes in this regard, as players will be able to earn XP through objectives within Career Mode.
Whether this will mean players can unlock every Ultimate Team reward through playing Career Mode remains to be seen, but it's a very welcome change indeed - and could have Ultimate Team fans dipping into Career Mode's new Snapshots feature to see what's new in the world of football, or have Career Mode players going the other way to try and earn some Ultimate Team rewards.
