After rejigging a lot of the characters in Apex Legends for Season 16, it's been quite a while since we've had a new legend.

It also feels like a long time since we've had an actually good Legend too, given that Catalyst, Maggie, and Newcastle have failed to make much of a dent into the pre-existing metas.

However, heading into Season 17, it appears that one masterful character is finally making an appearance, as EA appears to have leaked their latest project.

EA leaks new Apex Legends character 'Arsenal'

As shared by Twitter user "KralRindo," EA shared an image of what appears to be the next Apex Legends character. He wasn't up for long before the team swiftly removed it and we're supposed to pretend we never saw this mystery newcomer.

According to the dataminer, EA's picture confirmed the name of the Season 7 character as "Arsenal," although many others have found him to be condemned as Ballistic. While we're yet to see what his skills are, he seems like a sharp-shooting ace.

Long-time fans of Apex Legends and Titanfall might notice the strong resemblance of Kubin Blisk here, who has been heavily involved in the lore of the game but never directly added as a competitor. Even though Titanfall 3 is still nowhere to be seenApex has been neatly filling in the gaps with an expanded story.

New Apex Legends character could steal Fortnite and Titanfall's Smart Pistol

From the early image release, players think that Arsenal is firing off a Smart Pistol, which is yet another gun coming straight out of Titanfall, joining the likes of the R301.

The weapon was recently added to Fortnite as a Lock On Pistol too, where it hones in on its target for a second before firing a burst of 100% accurate shots.

It will likely be included as an ability for Arsenal, rather than an actual ground-loot weapon - much akin to Rampart's Shiela. If all of the above is to be believed, Arsenal is expected to join the Apex Legends legend pool when Season 17 leaps off the dropship on May 9
