Space isn't that dead after all, as EA is apparently teasing a whole trilogy of Dead Space remakes. Following the success of EA Motive's Dead Space remake, it looks like the publisher is revamping the entire series of sci-fi screamers for new-gen systems.

EA Redwood Shores introduced us to Isaac Clarke and stepped aboard the USG Ishimura in 2008 - with Dead Space taking influences from Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4. It was a huge success, Redwood Shores rebranded as Visceral Games and released Dead Space 2 in 2011.

The trilogy limped out with the divisive Dead Space 3 in 2013, and while there were once plans for a fourth game, they slipped into the abyss. 10 years after the last outing, the Dead Space remake clawed its way to the top of the charts.

Are We Getting A Dead Space Remake Trilogy?

Posting on Twitter, fans noted that EA is sending out polls to (not-so) subtly ask whether you'd be interested in Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 remakes.

Asking whether you'd be interested in a "similar remake" at least confirms EA is open to the idea of remastering the horror favourites.

When it was shared on ResetEra, fans said what they'd like to see done differently. "DS2 is a must, but frankly, 3 excites me even more. The setting and lore are top-notch, and 1 Remake's writer could easily fix the shoddy characterisations and plot contrivances," said one.

Another added, "I love some of the settings in Dead Space 3, I would love to see those settings again but with a better delivered story & characters, and game design more in line with what made Dead Space/Dead Space remake so good."

A third said, "I'd buy a 2 and 3 Remake but much rather have a whole new game instead, while a fourth simply concluded, "Dead Space 2 has gotta be a lock, right?"

VGC previously asked Dead Space Game Director Roman Campos-Oriola whether the success of the first game would automatically lead to a trilogy. Back then, he explained that while the team is working on Iron Man next, there could be scope:

"Personally, I'm a big fan of Dead Space, but as for the future, I don’t know. I cannot speak for the other project, but what I can say is that it’s not uncommon to have studios with multiple projects. Especially in big companies like EA."

Dead Space Remake Already Hinted At Sequels

The writing was already on the wall for at least a Dead Space 2 remake, with a sneaky Easter egg in 2023's game hinting at it. An alternate ending also added some new connective tissue between the first and second games.

Jumping far ahead - and assuming we're getting a Dead Space remake trilogy - it could pave the way for the long-rumoured Dead Space 4. When writing the third game, the team envisioned a fourth outing that would've made Ellie the protagonist.

Although Dead Space 3 performed well, it wasn't enough for EA, which pulled the plug. Visceral Games was shuttered in the middle of making a Star Wars game in 2017, meaning most of us had given up on Dead Space 4. whether a remake trilogy or a new game, rest assured Dead Space will keep us screaming.
