When someone says "Modern Warfare 2," we often find ourselves thinking back to the golden ages of Call of Duty. We think of 1v1s on Rust, Shepherd butchering Task Force 141 in Campaign, and sifting through the snow with an Intervention in hand on Special Ops before all hell breaks loose on a snowmobile extract.

We also think of climbing a crane in multiplayer and plummeting off the end while spinning uncontrollably, trying to get a Search and Destroy clip for YouTube. The crane in question defined one of the most iconic maps in Call of Duty history, overlooking a skyscraper arena that is arguably the best public match map ever.

Highrise will always be loved by any Call of Duty fan for its role in Modern Warfare 2, but despite a range of new games remastering iconic battlegrounds, it has never been added to another console Call of Duty again. Until now...

Is Highrise Coming To Warzone 2?

The Modern Warfare 2 trailer might not have been the ecstasy-burning and adrenaline-packed introduction that we normally receive, but we can forgive Infinity Ward for not churning out explosions for the sake of a quick thrill if its focus is honed in on developing the title.

However, the 90-second worldwide reveal did feature a snippet of Highrise, as found by eagle-eyed onlookers - confirming that the sniper's haven will be coming back in some capacity.

The map has been a long-time speculated part of Warzone 2's nameless landscape, featuring an area named "Modern City", which is somewhat replicable of Verdansk's Downtown.

Will More Remastered Maps Feature in Warzone 2?

With the rumours surrounding Highrise now being confirmed, it's worth considering that Quarry, Afghan, Terminal, and Favela have all been hinted at being locations within the Warzone 2 map.

Interestingly, Infinity Ward has already confirmed that "more remastered maps than ever before" will be coming to Modern Warfare 2, which is understandable given its two-year stint as the main Call of Duty. Whether these re-designed locations will come as multiplayer maps is yet to be seen.

Previously, the developers claimed that we'll never have a full remaster of the multiplayer side of Modern Warfare 2, despite the campaign having been re-released, due to the franchise moving on so much since MW2 was first released - arguably in fear of having its legacy tarnished.

So, maybe we will see Highrise come in as a multiplayer map too, as long as we're all aware that the battleground is not going to be the exact same as the 360 quickscope montage arena that it once was.
