Just when you thought The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom couldn't get any cuter, Nintendo has pulled it out of the bag with adorable horses cantering around Hyrule. Our first game with a fully-playable Zelda is already a big deal, but throw horses in there, and we're sold.
The reveal trailer for Echoes of Wisdom was a highlight of June's Nintendo Direct, and with the game coming out in September, there isn't long to wait. If you loved the toy-like art style of Link's Awakening, then hopefully, Echoes of Wisdom is the game for you. So, let's saddle up.
Echoes of Wisdom adds adorable horses
In a new deep dive video, Nintendo goes through the different types of traversal in Echoes of Wisdom. Zelda's copy ability will come in handy here, and in the video, we get a tour of different locales ranging from Gerudo Desert to Eldin Volcano. That's all well and good, but what about the horses?
In addition to using travel waypoints to get around, you can jump on the back of your trusty steed. Unlike a specific horse akin to Ocarina of Time's Epona, it seems you'll just wrangle any old horse from across Hyrule. You'll be able to call on horses, provided Zelda has learned the ability to make a carrot echo.
More than just enjoying the scenery on horseback, you can clomp weaker enemies with your four-legged friend and leap over small obstacles. Loving these little fellas, one fan said, "Well that's just darn adorable." Another added, "Zelda on horse amiibo No notes," and a third joked, "Screams in horse."
From what we've seen of Echoes so far, it really feels like a more intimate version of Tears of the Kingdom, giving us a more expansive top-down adventure than this world has before. Just make sure you've had some riding lessons before September 25.
