A massive ransomware attack on Bandai Namco leaves the Elden Ring DLC at risk, as hackers are sure to leak the game's roadmap.

Forget Melania and the Shardbearers, there's a new threat to the Lands Between. Bandai Namco has reportedly been hit by a massive ransomware attack, which could have some serious repercussions for a potential Elden Ring DLC.

Released in February 2022, Elden Ring took Ghiza's Wheel and swung it at the competition to be (officially) dubbed one of the greatest games of all time. Apart from the odd update and rogue NPC being added, things have been pretty quiet in terms of additional content. While we've all heard about a mythical Elden Ring DLC, there's been no official word from the FromSoftware HQ.

Is The Elden Ring DLC In Trouble?

Confirmation of an Elden Ring could now come from unofficial sources. The hacker group known as ALPHV has broken into Bandai Namco and put Elden Ring in its sights. Apparently, the Bandai Namco Fiscal Year 2023 roadmap has been acquired, and unless a deal is reached, it'll be unleashed to the masses.

The question is, if the Elden Ring DLC is revealed before Bandai Namco can make its big announcement, could it be shelved altogether? We'll reveal more of what the DLC could be after the jump, but if the current leaks are to be believed, it could launch in Q3 of 2023. It's good news that an Elden RingDLC is on the way, but bad news that we'll have to wait a year to play.

You might remember similar things happened to Capcom, where everything from Street Fighter 6 to the Resident Evil 4 remake were spoiled ahead of time. Bandai Namco is yet to comment on the ransomware attack, but remember that the Twitter account that reported it (vx-underground) also reveal the massive Nvidia leak. Although the attack might be legitimate, tread with caution when it comes to some of the rumours doing the rounds.

What Is The Elden Ring DLC?

On the internet right now, there's buzz about Elden Ring: Barbarians of the Badlands as an official DLC. You'll remember that the Badlands were an explored area beyond the Lands Between that Godfrey was banished to when he went under the name of Horah Loux and was stripped of his title as Elden Lord. Whether serving as an Elden Ring prequel to explore his marriage to Queen Marika - or focusing on Badlands soldiers seeking revenge for his demise as an Elden Ring sequel - there's a lot of potential here.

Critics claim that the leak is fake - noting that the Tekken logo could be from a fan video, the next Digimon game after Survive won't be Cybersleuth, and that the Dragon Ball Fighter Z Super logo appears to be a lazy amalgamation of Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Super. If these three are fake, it stands to reason that Barbarians of the Badlands is also a phony. By the time an Elden Ring DLC actually releases, we might've actually finished the game.
