Elden Ring may feel like a gruelling boss gauntlet for some players, but for others it's a pinnacle of open-world exploration. Others are here for the story, famously worked on in collaboration with George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame.

For those players, great news: a new Elden Ring lore book has been revealed. Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring, published by Tune & Fairweather, is written by Geoff "SmoughTown" Truscott, a longtime lore expert for the action RPG (and prior FromSoft titles).

New Elden Ring lore book looks incredible

The book, expected in early 2025, is available for preorder now. The description reads:

"The most ambitious RPG in video-game history is now being honoured with the most extravagant book-length appraisal yet, written by beloved Elden Ring lore expert Geoff "SmoughTown" Truscott. Prepare for a comprehensive deep dive into the mythology underpinning Miyazaki's latest masterpiece."

The book stands at over five hundred pages, including more than twenty full-colour illustrations from artist Shimhaq, and over a hundred spot illustrations by artist MenasLG.

A mythology book might be worth keeping close tabs on too. If the relationship with George R.R. Martin has taught Elden Ring one thing is that an anthology book can have the perfect material for more adaptations in the universe, just as his A Song of Ice and Fire prelude "Fire & Blood" has now sparked multiple seasons of the TV adaptation House of the Dragon.

Isn't it a little bit curious that George R.R. Martin himself has just ignited rumours about an Elden Ring TV series? Hmm...

If you've been enjoying Shadow of the Erdtree and want to learn more about its characters and their ties to the base game, this could be an ideal pickup.
