FromSoftware's Elden Ring is proving to be the realm that just keeps on giving, as players continue to find increasingly difficult ways to best the Lands Between. Most of us struggle to even get to the Elden Lord, let alone take him down, but just imagine doing one of the many challenge runs.
As the speedrun time continues to tumble (now at seven minutes), there are those taking a little longer. These gluttons for punishments are doing everything from refusing to level up to a pacifist run where you never lift a sword. The latest in a long line of Elden Ring challenge runs sees players butt stomp their way to victory.
How Can You Butt Stomp Your Way Through Elden Ring?
As spotted by GamesRadar, one Elden Ring speedrunner has asked: "Can I beat Elden Ring with ONLY my butt?" That speedrunner, named "Distortion2" has dedicated a video to find out, and it turns out, you can do it. They also currently hold the Any% world record, so are considered something of an Elden Ring expert.
Distortion2 started a new game and immediately equipped a spear - enhancing it with the Ground Slam Ashes of War. It's much like Mario's signature move that was made famous in Super Mario 64. It's important to note that Distortion doesn't take on all 150 Elden Ring bosses because that would be ridiculous. However, they tackle every boss that gives the Tarnished Rememberance, meaning all the major players and optional bosses like Malenia are ticked off.
By the looks of it, buffs are your best friend here. Distortion2 heads into each boss battle with some serious bottom buffs. The OP says their run "started off strong and slowly descended into despair." In the video, one of the biggest stumbling blocks is the fact Ground Slam has a long wind up. As they tackle higher-tier bosses like Radahn, you'll notice how they use armour with higher poise to help deal with staggering after an enemy attack.
What Else Is Distortion2 Known For?
Distortion2's channel is filled with speedrun videos for everything from Dark Souls to Bloodborne. One of their most popular videos is the epic challenge of defeating every Soulsborne boss, which is a baffling feat we even struggle to comprehend. If you look at their recent uploads though, it's Elden Ring that's taking up their time.
As for what the future holds, Distortion2 has already teased a butt-only speedrun through the entire game. Considering the boss butt battle took two hours, it'll be interesting to see if they can get anywhere near their current record using just their posterior. Keep 'em peeled.
