Elden Ring is, would you believe, pretty dangerous.

It's exactly how fans like it, to be honest - the world of the Lands Between is just as hostile and unfriendly as FromSoftware's followers have grown accustomed to with predecessors Dark Souls and Bloodbourne, and their journeys across the barren wasteland have been just as gruelling and brutal as hoped. NPCs and bosses make these games, and some of them are total w**kers. But, other players can be trouble too.

However, one Elden Ring player has discovered a trick that'll keep them safe from vengeful invaders.

Elden Ring Player Hides From Attacker As A Merchant

Elden Ring's players can be useful when you invite them into your games, but when they invade and try to hunt you down… not so much. Luckily, one player has discovered a trick that's helped them to go under the radar when enemies come after them.

User EarlyDescription6576 has shared their new discovery to the Elden Ring subreddit, providing a video that sees them dressed as one of the game's merchants sitting in the exact spot where said merchant would usually sit. The invader is simply not able to tell the difference, walking straight past EarlyDescription6578. Hiding in plain sight has rarely worked so well.

Fans React To Fan Trick To Avoid Invader

Fans have taken to the comments to react to the video, and some are less surprised by the action itself, and more about what the player had to do to get there.

"Y-you killed Santa?" says one commenter, referencing the red-clothed merchant that the player had to kill in order to bag their outfit. "You have to kill Santa to become Santa," replies another. "Haven't you seen that one Tim Allen movie?"

Some were also concerned about what this could ultimately mean for festive cheer. "That was funny… but at what cost?" asks one such player. So, while the trick clearly works it's proving controversial.

This isn't the first time an Elden Ring player has attempted to blend into a crowd, but clearly, there are some lines you don't cross - even if your life is on the line - and those lines, unsurprisingly, involve the man with all the presents.
