Forget Lord of the Rings, there's a different story about fantasy rings that's grabbing our attention. FromSoftware is preparing to unleash Elden Ring onto the world, and now, has released its most horrifying character class yet.
In Elden Ring, there are at least eight pre-made character classes to choose from. We've already met the likes of the Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion, Bloody Wolf, Prophet, and Hero, but if you're ready, prepare to have nightmares thanks to the Prisoner.
What Is The Prisoner Class In Elden Ring?
Looking like an extra from a Slipknot music video, the Prisoner is a vision of terror with its iron mask and tattered robes. We're guessing the Prisoner has had a pretty hard life, however, FromSoftware has expanded a little more on their backstory. The full description reads: "A prisoner bound in an iron mask. Studied in glintstone sorcery, having lived among the elite prior to sentencing."
We're guessing that the mention of sorcery makes them a magical character class. In Elden Ring, Glintstone Stars, Pebble, and Arc are different types of sorcery. You can launch projectiles and rain meteors down from the skies, while also being able to conjure weapons. We saw some of this in the Elden Ring Network Test, so we can't wait to see more.
As for the Prisoner, fans also expect it will have high Mind and Intelligence stats. With Elden Ring rounding off an impressive roster of classes, we're guessing there will be a ninth class that's similar to Dark Souls' Deprived. If this is the case, expect Elden Ring's equivalent to be a particularly difficult one with low stats and armour.
What Else Do We Know About Elden Ring?
We've already seen some weird and wonderful character customisation in Elden Ring, with FromSoftware reiterating you'll be able to change stats as you level up for a more varied build. Still, the Prisoner seems like a strong place to start for a magic class.
FromSoftware is yet to reveal the full stats for the Prisoner, so you'll have to wait and see whether it's going to be your go-to pick when the game releases. If you're worried Elden Ring is going to be another mind-shredding experience like the notoriously hard Dark Souls, we're thankfully told it will move at a more leisurely pace. Either way, it's tipped to be one of 2022's biggest games.
The Hidetaka Miyazaki-led Elden Ring launches on February 25.
