Even Cheaters Are Choosing Battlefield V Over Battlefield 2042

The problems continue for Battlefield 2042, with claims that even cheaters are beginning to defer to Battlefield V over 2021's shooter.

Battlefield's in the mud. The launch of Battlefield 2042 was met with frustration from fans, for a myriad of reasons - the leading cause being that players feel lied to about how the game would play.

For the most part, the entry feels like a Battlefield title, but it's more like the bare minimum of what the series can provide, and the gargantuan firefights that EA and DICE assured us were coming simply never materialised in the way we hoped they would.

Now, fans are voting with their wallets by deferring from the game - and even Battlefield 2042's cheaters are giving up on it.

Why Are Battlefield Cheaters Are Giving Up On 2042?

Even Cheaters Are Choosing Battlefield V Over Battlefield 2042

Only two months into the game's life, Battlefield 2042 has been deemed so lacklustre, that even its wealth of cheaters are starting to defer to a previous title.

As pointed out by TheGamer, hackers in Battlefield 2042 are increasingly difficult to spot, and with the current overtaking in Steam concurrent players by Battlefield V, it's thought that many players who were exploiting the franchise's framework are choosing the World War shooter.

After all, the fact that more players are engaging with Battlefield V makes it a much better playground for cheaters, as for the most part, the fun they take from hacking games is in getting on the nerves of other players.

Plus, as the game is technically put together better than 2042, it's clear that V has been chosen as the superior title, even with the cheating problem. God, how sad.

Cheaters Are In Big Trouble Right Now

As it turns out, though, cheaters and hackers in any online game are in danger of being uprooted. We reported that Activision was taking the huge cheat site EngineOwning to court for violations of the Call of Duty franchise - so there's every chance that this could set off a chain of events that shuts down a lot of cheat aggregators.

So, this begs the question - could Battlefield finally shake these cheaters, all thanks to Activision of all people? We'll have to wait and see, but until then, gamers will suffer through the cheats for a little longer. Even so, Battlefield V still looks more fun than Battlefield 2042 with all of the hackers attached - presumably to EA and DICE's dismay.
