The return of Silent Hill is a bit like waiting for a bus, you stand there for what feels like an eternity, and then, three come along at once. Konami's horror favourite is coming back in a big way, and apparently, there are still some unannounced games.

With Silent Hill: Downpour being a disappointing way to round off the series in 2012, we always knew the franchise would be coming back. We were rewarded for our patience in October 2012, when a special showcase announced a Silent Hill 2 remake and three new games.

Are There More Silent Hill Games On The Way?

Despite having largely retired from the leaker game, Dusk Golem popped up on ResetEra to discuss all things Silent Hill.

When talking about Silent Hill: The Short Message, Dusk Golem added, "There's at least three Silent Hill projects which haven't been announced yet, not including the Short Message. Yes, really. But one of them is in very early development."

Along with the remake, there's the unannounced The Short Message, as well as the confirmed Silent Hill fSilent Hill: Townfall, and Silent Hill: Ascension. If we take Dusk Golem's words as gospel, that would be a whopping eight projects.

We're going to err on the side of caution for now. You'll all remember the various leaks about Silent Hill games that never came to be. Added to that, there was the "insider" who admitted to making up Silent Hill leaks just for the clout.

Dusk Golem has a pretty solid track record with Silent Hill, and you might remember they were one of the first to let us know about Bloober's Silent Hill 2 before it was made official.

When Is The Next Silent Hill Coming Out?

Eight games seems like a lot, and while we're not saying there aren't more Silent Hill games out there, it remains to be seen whether all of these will come to fruition.

At least 2023 will mark the franchise's return in some way. The J.J. Abrams-led Ascension is described as an "interactive experience" and will be coming out this year. Still, we're no closer to unravelling what it actually involves.

Beyond that, there are no release dates for the other confirmed titles. With it being over a decade since we last stepped into that tormented town, we've been waiting more than long enough for Silent Hill's return.
