The multi-million dollar deal between Activision, the Call of Duty League, and YouTube has come to an end - leaving the future of the CDL's broadcast in limbo. With the developers presumably bartering with many platforms behind the scenes, fans have become convinced that the CDL is heading to Twitch.

YouTube has been the home of competitive Call of Duty multiplayer for three years, but its tenure hasn't been as successful as first hoped.

Despite having its pros - such as instant VOD capture meaning rewinds are possible - fans have struggled with its lack of accessibility, meaning the league's viewership has dwindled significantly. But, heading into the first of two seasons on Modern Warfare 2, could the CDL be heading back to Twitch?

Call of Duty Offer Twitch Drops For MW2 Launch

Following the launch of Modern Warfare 2, fans can earn free rewards. That's even if they're not playing the game. Simply by watching any streamer who has enabled Twitch drops, you will be able to earn yourself up to four rewards for 60 minutes, including a weapon blueprint.

The weapon blueprint is for an unnamed sniper, which will be joined by a calling card and emblem, a sticker, and a weapon charm. Some excited CDL fans have now put two and two together and decided that this might mean something bigger than just a simple one-time freebie.

Call of Duty League Fans Think New Twitch Drops Have Bigger Implications

With the CDL actively looking for a broadcast home, some fans seem to think that this newly formed relationship hints at a contract having been signed between the two. Taking to Reddit, many fans have claimed that CDL (well, competitive Call of Duty) could be heading back to Twitch. "Wish they would go back, YouTube is so bad and unorganized for streams. CDL would easily pull 250k+ viewers like back in the CWL days," one fan said.

With the OWL still signed to YouTube until the end of their season, it might be more likely that the CDL will air on both platforms, although we're likely to find out more come December when the League kicks off.
