Many of the Apex Legends guns have become household names in the battle royale. Your R99s and R301s specifically are, and always have been, instant pick-ups.
So, players have never been incentivised to pick up other weapons unless it's absolutely necessary.
But now, a new system has been added that might make you want to have a Mozambique in your hand a little more often.
Apex Legends introduces a Weapon Mastery system
The Apex Legends Weapon Mastery system is set to be added in Season 17 alongside some rather awesome content like a 1v1 Gulag-like arena and the new legend Ballistic.
The system is set to reward players for using their favourite weapons by having a levelling-up progression method that rewards your journey with your chosen guns by offering up Apex packs and legendary skins.
However, the system has instantly come under criticism by fans, as it has become apparent that the level 100 reward is a Legendary skin that can also be purchased with crafting materials.Â
FaZe Jev points out the glaringly obvious flaw in Apex Legends Weapon Mastery system

"I think that every game should have some sort of progression system for the weapons to level up which rewards mostly unique skins, that make them special," said FaZe Clan streamer Jason "Jev" Eugene.
"You kind of invalidate the work that someone has to put in to get to level 100 by not having something unique to show that you've not just bought it," he added.
Many other fans also agreed with Jev, claiming that the lack of a unique Mastery skin is "lazy" and makes the whole progression system rather redundant.
So far, Respawn looks to be sticking by its guns on this one, but with time left until Season 17, there could be a change of heart yet.
