What was it that Jamie Carragher said? "Leave football before football leaves you"? Many EA FC cards have suffered the fatal blow of hanging on to their careers for too long and have lost a leg.
But it looks like FC 25 hackers are giving everyone the Casemiro treatment, rolling out the early retirement cards and forcing everyone into Sunday League's finest.
Already, hackers have found cheats that reportedly put every opponent player down to 1% sprint speed - making Ultimate Team games near impossible.
Spring Speed modifying hacks appear to be taking over FC 25
Taking to X, one player showcased a reported hack where the opponent crippled their sprint speed to just 1%.
Career Mode users will be familiar with the sneaky in-game setting where you can change the sprint speed of players (default 50%) to either make you faster or your opponents slower. This appears to be the same system that was added as a cheat for Ultimate Team.
The user revealed that they are in Elite Division, so the hacker must have been able to grind through the ranks. They also claimed the hacker was on PC, prompting fellow console players to turn off crossplay.
This doesn't appear to be the first hack on Ultimate Team either, as another user said, "I matched someone on pc with a full bronze team, as soon as game started kicked me straight out of game and gave me a loss."
"The frustrating thing is EA has an anticheat now, so why isn't it catching these hacks, as a PC player it is very frustrating," complained a second fan.
This sprint speed modifier is especially annoying, given that you get to watch your opponent and weigh up their skills, knowing that you could beat them with a fully functioning starting XI.
Maybe, just maybe, someone had replaced your Kylian Mbappe with prime Sunday League Boris Johnson or 5-a-side guru Keir Starmer stepped into midfield instead of Jude Bellingham.
