While EA FC might have slowed down the gameplay compared to the pace-heavy metas in years gone by, the developers might've finally found the replacement for FIFA Street that they have been desperate for.
Since the days of scoring game-breakers with Ronaldinho x Peter Crouch, the football series has deployed a few attempts at recreating the five-a-side mania, but the likes of Volta fell short. Rush is now here and embedded into Ultimate Team, already being dubbed as the "best thing EA has ever added."
Rush has won over FC 25 players
While there's no points system for whacking out rainbow flicks and rabonas in FC 25, the closest thing we've ever had to a FIFA Street successor is here, as true 5v5 football has been added with Rush.
For those waiting to access it when the Standard Edition releases later this week, Rush combines Clubs with Ultimate Team, dropping you in with an AI keeper and three online teammates to fill a squad of five as you pick from your FUT card pile for your own player.
And it's electric.
"Iām gonna say it - Rush may be the best thing EA have ever added to a football game. WOW," said one FC 25-dedicated fan account. Another added, "Rush is the greatest game mode EA have released since Ultimate Team itself. Simply brilliant."
Aside from a few flaws, like opponents or teammates going AFK, Rush has been a joy, and it's only going to get better when more team variations are introduced.
Even after so many years of FIFA and a rebrand to EA FC, it's refreshing to see that the devs are willing to move with the times. Here's to hoping that we get a full Masters football roster when legends are commonplace in a couple of months' time.
