First-Person Pokemon Shooter Game Lets You Murder Mewtwo

Someone has created a brutal first-person Pokemon game that lets you actually go out and hunt them like you're in a Call of Duty title.

The Pokemon series has been many things over the years. From the top-down RPGs of the main series to the fighter style of Pokemon Stadium, we've even imagined ourselves as photographers with Pokemon Snap, and solved mysteries with Detective Pikachu

While the wide world of Pokemon has given us plenty of tweaks to the classic formula over the past 26 years, there's one genre it's not mastered yet... the first-person shooter. Now, one intrepid developer has shown what a wild crossover between Call of Duty and these adorable 'Mon would look like. Trust us, it's a bloody affair.

What Is The First-Person Pokemon Shooter?

Nintendo's lawyers are sure to be hot on the trail of YouTuber Dragon. Posting on Reddit, the indie dev showed off his FPS Pokemon game that lets you shoot down those mythical monsters. In the video, Dragon_GameDev makes their way through a peaceful field. It's footage that you might expect to see in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but this is where the similarities end.

While you might usually see a battle between a trainer and their own squad of Pocket Monsters, the player instead pulls out a gun and puts a doomed Pikachu in its sights. There are no Pokeballs here, with the player straight-up shooting Pikachu in the head. Something tells us they weren't trying to catch the electric mouse.

He then faces off against a troublesome Nidoqueen, before making light work of an Arbok, Hitmonchan, Poliwhirl, and more. We also get to see how the game's boss battles would work, with Legendary Pokemon like Zapdos and Articuno leading to a final showdown with Mewtwo. Here, you can blast the big bad in the face until your heart's content.

What's Next For The First-Person Pokemon Shooter?

The unnamed game got plenty of upvotes, but sadly, it doesn't look like it will ever be released. Responding to Dragon's build, one fan wrote, "Gotta Kill 'Em All." Another added, "Now give Pokémon their abilities and the game becomes a challenge. That Kabuto should’ve fury swiped your ass to oblivion lol," while a third concluded, "This literally looks better than Legends Arceus."

Bringing the ever-popular FPS genre to Pokemon sounds like a goldmine. We previously covered how someone modded Call of Duty Zombies in a similar way, meaning you can unload an arsenal of weapons on Pokemon. It's true, we've technically had a first-person Pokemon game thanks to Pokemon Snap, but safe to say, this is a very different affair.
