The next instalment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise leaked earlier this week after the game’s trailer surfaced on social media, however the franchise creator doesn’t seem to be upset.
Instead, Scott Cawthon stated that it was okay to discuss the upcoming release, which he is “really proud of”.
A new Five Nights at Freddy’s game has been leaked… but it’s okay
The next Five Nights at Freddy’s game has been leaked, with a trailer showing elements of the gameplay being shared across social media.
The upcoming title is called Into The Pit, and it is being developed by Mega Cat Studios.
While many people wouldn’t be too thrilled about their work being shared prematurely online, Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s, has embraced the leak.
On Reddit, in response to a post asking people not to share the trailer, Scott wrote: “No need to keep it all hush-hush. It's okay!
“Yes, I was trying to keep it a secret for a bit longer, but now that it's out, that's fine. This game has been in development for a really long time actually, and I'm really proud of the final product.
“It will be a 10th anniversary game!”
Since he stated that it was okay to discuss the game, Mega Cat Studios has come out to share more information about what we can expect from Into The Pit.
The Into The Pit factsheet reads: “Fall into the pit and immerse yourself in a new chapter in the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe.
“Oswald wishes his town, and his life, weren’t so boring. All that changes when dives into the ball pit at a rundown pizzeria and finds himself in the past. However, Oswald’s deepest desire will have an unexpected cost…
“Survive five nights of terror in this chilling adventure game.
“Travel through time to solve puzzles, gather clues, and outrun the threat chasing you through both universes. Move swiftly and stay hidden and you may just survive—but this time, it’s not just your own life that is on the line. Oswald’s father, and five children from the past, could all meet their end if you don’t save them.”
Fans are excited for the latest franchise instalment
Naturally, fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise are excited for the new game, with a seemingly new art style and gameplay elements.
One fan wrote: “Not gonna lie, the art style and how the game plays looks amazing, really excited for this one.”
Another said: “The pixel art is so amazing in this trailer, super pumped to see what's coming up for this game.”
“This game is gonna be peak. We will be playing on day one!” a third shared.
Into The Pit will be a game celebrating FNAF’s tenth anniversary, and is coming off the back of the success of the recent Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.
While it is a shame that the game was shared before Scott was ready, it looks like it is going to be something great and may be hinting towards a darker and more adult future for FNAF titles.
