The concept of a movie based on Five Nights at Freddy's was immediately alarming - but to know that Blumhouse was on the job was all we needed to relax. The horror team has turned out some serious bangers at the box office and across critic boards too.

With Jason Blum's passion for the genre, the film is probably in the safest hands it could be. Plus, with Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson involved, the cast is pretty strong. But, we haven't had anything to go off regarding images...until now.

Five Nights at Freddy's movie reveals a first look

We finally have our first official look at the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, and it's an image that gives us both a look at the iconic pizzeria and the titular animatronic himself.

The image was shared to the Blumhouse Instagram page, showcasing a look at the building, along with the news that the video game adaptation will be arriving in cinemas on October 27, 2023. Better yet, it will debut on Peacock the very same day.

The post goes on to assert the film's story - the synopsis reads: "The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through."

Scott Cawthon has written the FNAF movie

Though he insisted he'd be stepping away from Five Nights at Freddy's and its legacy after his fans caught him out making political contributions to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, this post confirms that the series creator has had a hand in writing the movie.

The scale of Cawthon's involvement is unconfirmed, but given that his name comes first in the writing department, it's thought that his contributions have been pretty substantial.

The film could go one of two ways - and we're praying it goes the better one. It could be an absolute banger, so we're just going to have to hold out hope that Freddy Fazbear has the chops to go all the way.
