Much like the zombies of the Resident Evil series, Wordle, Heardle, and all the rest of these guessing clones just won't stay dead. The latest to jump on the gaming gunship is your very own Resident Evil Heardle clone for those who fancy themselves as something of a William Birkin.
Whether it's the grunting of Chris Redfield as he punches a boulder or Ashley Graham asking Leon S. Kennedy if he wants to do some overtime, there have been some iconic lines of dialogue over the years. Good luck though if you can think you can tell the difference between an exploding bomb destroying Raccoon City or Village's gothic locale. Also, one Albert Wesker laugh sounds like all the rest.
What Is Resident Evil Heardle?
Instead of playing dialogue from Capcom's acclaimed shooter series - which sounds like a lot of fun - this Heardle spin-off uses the franchise's various soundtracks to play snippets from the games. Unlike Wordle where you guess a five-letter word, Heardle gives you fragments of a song and then increases them in one-second increments to see if you can guess the track.
Resident Evil Heardle is the brainchild of Dusk Golem, who is known as a prominent Resiverse leaker. Given their encyclopaedic knowledge of the shuffling shooter's 26-year history, we can think of no one better to bring this Heardle clone to life. Heading over to the Resident Evil Heardle site, you can try it out for yourselves.
On April 29, they said there would soon be over 1000 tracks in the game, but to be honest, we didn't know there was that much Resident Evil music. Tracks include the likes of "Fight or Flight" from Resident Evil 6, proving this isn't just "Oh yeah, that's the RE4 soundtrack". Even we'll admit that this is one for the die-hard Resi fans, begging the question of when will this Wordle/Heardle madness end?
What's Next For Resident Evil?
Passing time with Resident Evil soundtracks might be a good way to fill the gaps until Capcom gives us even a snippet of what's to come. Although we know Resident Evil 9 is officially on the way to round off the Winters Trilogy, there's no sign of the mythical Village DLC. Apart from the odd teaser that's turned out to be a dud, we're not convinced we're ever going back to Castle Dimitrescu.
Elsewhere, the Resiverse is moving slower than one of its zombies, with the mythical new-gen remaster of Resident Evil 4 still failing to rear its head. As well as being leaked in that massive Capcom breach, the title appeared again in the humungous Nvidia blunder. 2021 might've been a big year thanks to Village but for the time being, 2022 looks like a bust unless you like playing a Heardle clone. In the meantime, we're off to play Zwelda - yep, it's a Wordle clone using only Zelda words.
