Forget Marvel, Fortnite fans want a proper DC season

As Fortnite gears up for the Marvel-themed Chapter 5 Season 4, players are asking for a full-blown DC season to top the Gotham City overhaul of Season X.

Godzilla vs. Kong, Freddy, vs. Jason, Alien vs. Predator, and DC vs. Marvel. Some entities are just made to butt heads, and in the world of superhero IPs, DC vs. Marvel is a war that's raged for decades. A bit like how gamers like to hype up the rivalry between Sony and Microsoft, it's largely healthy competition, although Fortnite fans are worried for DC.

Epic Games' Battle Royale Goliath is no stranger to DC skins, first adding comic book Batman and Catwoman in Season X. It was also that season when Tilted Towers was revamped as Gotham City. Sadly, we've since seen Marvel POIs like Doom's Domain and the Daily Bugle while the Bat-Signal has been extinguished.

Fortnite fans are worried for DC

There's even more Marvel mayhem on the way thanks to Chapter 5 Season 4's "Absolute Doom", hoping to top the fan-favourite status of Chapter 2 Season 4's last Marvel buffet. We've never had a full-blown DC season in Fortnite, and now that we've got Disney's new golden handshake with Epic, the MCU overlord could push DC to the curb.

Over on Reddit, Fortnite fan u/Anthony_daboom said they wish there was a DC season, lamenting the fact that Epic has never gone the whole hog. It seems odd, especially considering we've had the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comic book series.

The OP says that they wish Fortnite would bring back Gotham City and add a Metropolis POI. Although they noted that Superman has already been in the Battle Pass, we could easily see it working. Loving the idea, another fan chimed in, saying, "Gotham Tilted for a season would be awesome."

Someone else added, "I wish for this as well! DC characters are so iconic, I would love for the DC characters to balance out the MASSIVE amount of Disney characters that are set to be arriving by the end of 2024," and a third concluded, "Love that we're getting more Marvel seasons, but a DC season would have a lot of potential too!"

Worryingly, we haven't had a new DC skin since Black Adam landed in the shop during Chapter 3 Season 4. That was in October 2022, and while it's been hard to keep up with the deluge of Marvel sins since, it looks like the Avengers have trounced the Justice League on this one.

Others in the comments noted that Warner Bros. is reportedly in a state of flux with its video game department potentially offering out stakes. James Gunn is currently lauding it over the revamped DCU, and with Superman: Legacy out in 2025, we hope there's at least a new Superman skin for David Corenswet's version.

Unfortunately, the House of Mouse's vice-like grip on Fortnite suggests that a supersized DC season could be little more than a pipe dream. While we'll take all the Marvel collabs we can, it's a crying shame that the DC crowd is being put on ice by Mr. Freeze.
