Epic Games has been onto a winner since Fortnite was released in 2017, helping set the stage for our current obsession with battle royales. Although originally imagined as a bit on the side to Save the World, Fortnite's battle royale contingent soon took over, with things only getting bigger from there.

While we've come to love locales like Brutal Bastion, spare a thought for Chonker's Speedway, Steamy Stacks, and classics like Flush Factory. Even though we're not sure we'll ever get over the loss of Pleasant Park, there could be good news. We know you've heard it before, but the OG Fortnite map could be coming back.

Fortnite Chapter 1 map tipped for a return

With rumours of a suitably massive live event coming to round off Chapter 4, we're poised for a potential time travel twist that could bring back the Chapter 1 map for us all to (briefly) enjoy. Several prominent leakers have shared the find from the 26.30 Fortnitemares update, with evidence we're getting a blast from the past.

Images have appeared online, showing Chapter 4 Season 4 villain Kado Thorn standing in front of a time machine that's set to the date of "2018 07 12." As this is the exact date Season 5's map launched, it's all looking a little convenient.

According to leakers, Thorn's time machine will go haywire and pull parts of the OG Fortnite map into Chapter 4 Season 5. Others have spotted Chapter 1 Season 5 items like a Durr Burger sign, a Dusty Diner sign, and a Truck 'N' Oasis sign falling on Frenzy Fields.

Make the most of the OG Fortnite map

Looking further ahead, the idea of the OG Fortnite map starts to make a lot more sense. Chapter 4 Season 5 is tipped to only run for a month before we get a complete overhaul for Chapter 5. If we only get a limited time to return to the OG Fortnite map, it will pull players back but stop others from getting bored.

Much like the map turning upside down or being ripped apart, we're expecting suitably cataclysmic changes to the map we've currently got. Although we don't see a full-time return of the Chapter 1 map, you never know what Epic has up its sleeve. Imagine some dream scenario where Fortnite will rotate through its previous maps.

Fans have previously built the Chapter 1 Fortnite map in the ambitious Project Nova, but this looks like an official return. With the current season expected to end on November 2 (and Chapter 4 Season 5 expected shortly after), November 3 is the date we should be marking in our diaries.  Ah, the sweet scent of nostalgia.
