We can't get enough of Fortnite's Marvel collabs, and while we still hold out hope for a DC season someday, we're happy basking in the comic book chaos of the Avengers. The upcoming Chapter 5 Season 4 hopes to top the beloved Chapter 2 Season 4 as one of the best seasons ever, and looking like a true successor, it likely will.

After the divisive reception of the automotive Chapter 5 Season 3, and some dubbing it the worst season ever, Chapter 5 Season 4 can hopefully redeem Fortnite's reputation. We're expecting a Battle Pass stacked with Marvel favourites, but unfortunately, it seems a major player could be sitting this one out.

Fortnite looks like it's murdered the Fantastic Four

The teasers have been coming thick and fast ahead of "Absolute Doom" releasing on August 16, showing off new POIs like The Raft prison and Castle Doom, but as noted by HYPEX, there's been a murder on the map. Fortnite is no stranger to killing off fan-favourites (RIP Bushranger), but was anyone ready for the murder of Benn Grimm?

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that the return of Doctor Doom under the guise of the Wanderer has led to him enacting revenge on Marvel's First family. Better known as The Thing, Ben Grimm is a quarter of the Fantastic Four, whose most iconic adversary is Doctor Doom.

As some sort of sick trophy, Doom's throne at Castle Doom clearly looks like it's made up of the smashed remains of The Thing. Similar to the Iron Throne being made of swords belonging to Aegon the Conqueror's foes, the implication is that Doom has killed that stony superhero and made him into a seat of power.

The question remains, if Ben Grimm has met this 'grim' fate, what does it mean for the rest of the Fantastic Four? Is Fortnite going full Deadpool & Wolverine to give Johnny Storm another macarbe ending? This ties into speculation from Ako Fortnite News, who suggests the new Fantastic Felled POI means they've been defeated.

Although Marvel's First Family were MIA from the first trailer, HYPEX has also speculated they could arrive via a mid-season Mini Pass. We imagine this season's secret skin will be Marvel-themed, and with Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four: First Steps coming out next year, Disney and Epic's new partnership could start the hype train early.

Like with the madness of the Multiverse and variants, we're hopeful that even if The Things is dead in this reality, it's possible another version of him will be jumping off the Battle Bus before the season is out. As long as official Fantastic Four skins are better than those faked ones, they'll undoubtedly be a 'fantastic' addition to the ensemble.
