The end is nigh for Fortnite's current season, and whatever you think of the high-octane Chapter 5 Season 3, we can all agree it's definitely thrown the kitchen sink at Epic Games' battle royale favourite. From Mad Max-inspired Thunderdomes to a skeletal Captain Jack Sparrow, it's a season that you've either loved or loathed.

It's clear something needs to change in Fortnite, with Chapter 5 so far failing to live up to expectations. Ever since that long-drawn-out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collab was announced, the game has struggled to keep us invested. Thankfully, a Marvel-themed Chapter 5 Season 4 could be just what the Doctor (Doom) ordered.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is ending early

We're in that awkward part of the Fortnite season where you've polished off all your challenges, crawl up the Battle Pass at a snail's pace, and simply wait around for teases of what's to come next. While it looks like theories that the mysterious Wanderer is Doctor Doom were on the money, Chapter 5 Season 4 is still shrouded in mystery.

It sounds like we'll have even less time to wait until we find out what's next, as ShiinaBR confirms Chapter 5 Season 3's downtime will now begin at 11pm ET on August 15. The season was previously expected to end on August 16, and with Season 4 supposed to go live shortly after, it means the next big overhaul could realistically happen on August 15.

Of course, Epic is yet to officially confirm when Chapter 5 Season 4 is going live, and with a massive update expected to add a host of familiar Marvel haunts to the map, there's a chance the early end is to make way for extended downtime. Still, there are plenty of players who are glad to close the book on this chapter.

One fan cheered, "GOOD. EVEN BETTER. Don't have to deal with boss cars for too much longer! Marvel season will be PEAK. Don't disappoint, Epic," while another added, "The sooner it ends, the better 😂." Someone else concluded, "Thank god. This season SUCKED."

Given how the Marvel madness of Chapter 2 Season 4 is held by many as the best season Fortnite has ever had, there are astronomically high hopes that Epic can pull it out of the bag again. Let's just hope the hype isn't too much and we're in for another middling season of bizarre collabs.

Amidst all of the excitement is the news that the Chapter 5 Season 4 Battle Pass skins will eventually end up in the shop. For those who lament never having completed the Chapter 5 Season 2 Battle Pass and missing out on Mystique, that will no longer be a problem. As for another Marvel season, we're more than ready.
