GTA 6 leaked footage suggests you can visit multiple states

Resurfaced GTA 6 leaks give us our strongest hints yet that Rockstar Games' next title will take us to multiple states and multiple cities outside of Vice City.

In case you hadn't guessed, the next chapter in the long-running Grand Theft Auto series is likely to be a Goliath that boasts the franchise's biggest map yet. Over the years, we've visited iconic locales like Vice City, Los Santos, and Liberty City, but they've largely been locked to individual games.

Rockstar Games is clearly pushing the boat out with GTA 6, and while we know nothing official other than the fact it's in the works, the developer was subjected to a megaton data leak that spoiled many of the surprises ahead of time. We've heard about multiple cities before, and now, resurfaced footage pretty much confirms it.

GTA 6 footage leak hints at multiple states

Rumours of multiple cities and supposed instant travel via airports are all well and good, but we GTA fans are a sceptical lot that needs some cold, hard evidence. A tweet from @jasonfromgta6 has been struck with some copyright strikes for displaying leaked media, but we can still get the gist.

As we know, Vice City is set in a fictionalised version of Miami. In the leaked GTA 6 footage, we see protagonist Jason outside a prison, which as pointed out by Dexerto, fits with the massive GTA 6 leak document mentioning "locations from Georgia, including a Prison and mountain ranges not present in real world Florida."

Eagle-eyed sleuths on the GTA Forum have done some snooping and figured out this seems to be a recreation of Georgia's real-world Augusta State Medical Prison. The only mention of Georgia in the GTA series is during an episode of Gordon Moorhead Rides again, so we could be going somewhere completely new.

Will GTA 6 return to Vice City?

Vice City Club GTA

As players have pointed out, the Augusta State Medical Prison is a long way from Miami, suggesting the GTA 6 map will be bigger than we ever thought. While we doubt Rockstar will be cramming all of its fictionalised USA into the title, the idea of fast travel to alternate states is an interesting one.

The most prevalent rumour is that we'll return to the fan-favourite Vice City - albeit an updated version. The beloved GTA: Vice City took us to this neon-splashed homage of Miami during 1986 and cemented it as one of the franchise's best locales. Since then, players have been wondering what happened to Vice City after the credits rolled.

For years, we've been hearing about a Vice City return, and through the leaks, it looks like we're getting our wish. We don't know much about the protagonists of Jason and Lucia, but what if there's some sort of family connection to Tommy Vercetti? Either way, we're excited to see how Vice City has changed.

With whispers of a potential GTA 6 reveal coming toward the end of October, we're starved of official information from Rockstar. While we sit and wait patiently, the leakers and dataminers are sure to go into overdrive trying to figure out what the developer is cooking up next.
