Los Santos has never looked so glossy, as Rockstar Games rolls out the Expanded & Enhanced GTA V for you all to enjoy. A mere nine years after we first jumped into the complicated lives of Trevor, Michael, and Franklin, Rockstar's GTA cash cow is ready to be milked all over again.
While some of you might think we don't need another version of the record-breaking GTA V, that hasn't stopped the developer from delivering the latest entry - which it promises will be more than just a graphical overhaul. Sticking with tech specs though, you should definitely be stumping up for the PS5 version of the game.
Is GTA V Quicker On PS5?
We know getting a PS5 is like gold dust, but for those who've been lucky enough to nab one, the new-gen Expanded & Enhanced is meant to be well worth it. According to VGC, the PS5 Expanded & Enhanced will load up to three times faster than the old PS4 version.
A video shows that the new-gen version loads at a nippy 27 seconds, whereas the PS4 title clocks in at 1'33". We shouldn't be too surprised, especially as the PS5 has championed itself on lightning-fast load times. Admittedly, 27 seconds is still sluggish compared to something like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales booting everything in a matter of seconds. Still, it's a far cry from those infamously long loading times we're used to with GTA V.
Across the board, Expanded & Enhanced is being praised as a massive improvement over last-gen. It should come as a relief to Rockstar after the disastrous reception of Grove Street Games' GTA Trilogy. In particular, it's been praised for the souped-up "Fidelity" mode that runs at 4K with ray tracing enabled. Spruced-up graphics, coupled with faster loading times, and it looks like Expanded & Enhanced could be a winner.
What's Next For GTA?
Playing GTA V on its third (let that sink in for a second) generation of consoles is all well and good, but what about what comes next? By now, we're sure you've heard of a little thing called GTA 6, which has finally been confirmed after years of rumours and speculation. Even if details are thin on the grounds, GTA 6 could continue in its predecessor's footsteps and be one of the biggest games of all time.
We understand how the sheer mass of GTA content can leave us with massive load times, but if Expanded & Enhanced on PS5 can load three times faster than PS4, we have high hopes for GTA 6. Then again, with reports of multiple continents and play for over 500 hours, we could be back to those achingly long loadings of 2013. Either way, Expanded & Enhanced is out today (March 15), so we'll have to see what the critics say.
