The popular Gunfight mode has only just been added to Modern Warfare 2, and despite its rather questionable maps, the party game mode has been pretty fun.

Coming back from Modern Warfare 2019, the 2v2 game mode has rekindled players' fire for asserting dominance, throwing us back to the prime Rust days.

But, just as fans were beginning to find their groove on the new map designs, Infinity Ward has now removed the Gunfight game mode, and nobody knows why.

Infinity Ward removes Gunfight from Season 3

After just four weeks in Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward has now removed Gunfight from the playlists, leaving players confused about exactly what's going on here.

The May 3 Playlist update (a weekly special game mode shuffle) saw Gunfight be replaced by Shipment and Shoot House 24/7 playlists.

Following the update, fans took to social media to question the action, with one asking, "I play this game mode every day but now it's just not showing up and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Is this just another bad UI problem or have they removed it?"

With Gunfight being one of the biggest selling points for Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, fans have now expressed frustration at its removal. "This is so stupid, they advertised this as a huge feature of this season and now it’s not even here lol," said one fan.

Another pointed out that the new Gunfight maps could have been used for actual multiplayer maps, and that it was a waste of time if they were just going to remove them. "Imagine creating brand new maps for a mode to disappear randomly lol," added another.

It's not yet known whether its removal was a mistake, after all, Infinity Ward did add some features by accident, maybe they've taken some away in a folly too.

With a little luck, Gunfight will be back in no time, meaning sharp-shooting MW2 players can continue getting their reps in on the Search and Destroy mimick mode.
