D&D is coming back in a pretty big way. Of course, the game was revitalised by its appearance in Stranger Things and its influence over the nostalgia-tinged phenomenon's monsters.

Now, the tabletop adventure-building game stretches to the cinema with its movie led by Chris Pine, it's finally out of the basement. Dungeons & Dragons is cool again. Thank goodness for that.

And now, it looks like Paramount is banking on it being even bigger than the movie, as a brand-new TV series based on D&D has been commissioned.

A Dungeons & Dragons TV Series Is On The Way

Halo's Paramount+ Working On Dungeon And Dragons TV Series

Since Halo absolutely slapped on Paramount+ - no, we don't mean critically, but that doesn't mean anything to executives - it looks like the company is doubling down on its nerdy exports, as a new television series based on the Dungeons & Dragons IP has been commissioned at the studio.

Deadline reports that Paramount+ bagged the TV rights for the property amidst interest from a good few buyers, and the service has now placed an order for an eight-episode series.

Paramount Pictures and eOne are coming together to produce the series, who are also producing the upcoming movie, and it has been described as their "largest-scope TV project ever." Blimey.

Red Notice's Director Will Kick Off The D&D Series

The pilot episode of the new D&D series will be written and directed by the filmmaker behind one of the biggest films that Netflix has ever produced.

Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber will be looking after the first episode, and it doesn't look like it'll end there, as there have supposedly been talks about the universe of Dungeons & Dragons being made into a number of shows.

Executives seem confident in the pulling power of D&D - and though it's a risk, it's a potentially lucrative one. There's no news on whether this will have any ties to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but to be honest, we wouldn't be surprised is Pine is putting in an appearance.
