Helldivers 2 players give its ice-themed warbond a frosty reception

The Helldivers 2 community is still burned by the game's recent choices, and with the introduction of the Polar Patriots Warbond, some fans are upset by a minor detail that's breaching immersion.

Even though Helldivers 2 is well on its way to recovering from its misdemeanours, it seems that fans still have their shoulders up a little bit. Since the kerfuffle that demanded players have a PS account linked to the PC version of Helldivers 2, players have lost trust.

Even after PlayStation walked the move back following review bombs and massive backlash, some are struggling to trust Arrowhead Game Studios. While they've returned to the battlefield to crush imminent forces that threaten Super Earth, they've been met with yet another snag that they didn't want.

Helldivers 2’s new ice-themed Warbond doesn’t help with ice at all

Despite the new Premium Warbond being themed entirely around the Arctic and its associated cold, the latest package from Helldivers 2 has rubbed some players the wrong way. Notably, it helps in no way whatsoever on icy planets.

Players have taken to Reddit to report that the new armour sets from the Polar Patriots Warbond don't have any kind of assistance for icier planets. One suit that features crampons on its boots (look that up) fails to grip onto icy or colder, harder surfaces.

There's a video to prove the problems with the Polar Patriots Warbond, and while the name suggests these suits would be perfect for colder climes, the player skates and slides around like they aren't wearing boots designed to solve that problem.

"I don't understand why they would release a snow/ice themed warbond and not have the armors provide any advantages in snow/ice," says one fan. "2 of the new armors have crampons designed into the boots. Their literal purpose is to stop you from slipping and sliding on ice."

This may seem minor, but for some, it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. There's a fair concern that such a feature would feel too much like a play-to-win scenario where players have to shell out extra to gain an advantage, but there are a lot of nuances there, too. Either way, it seems Arrowhead can't win right now.
