Similar to Call of Duty at the moment, Apex Legends is suffering from a massive wave of cheaters who are completely ruining the gameplay experience for the community.
These bad actors are particularly prevalent in Ranked, and while you would expect the anti-cheat to suspend them before they can reach Predator, that isn't the case.
The very upper echelon of the ladder is plagued with hackers, and no one is more experienced with dealing with them than pro Jacob "HisWattson" McMillin.
After queueing for a match on Olympus, Wattson caught a high-ranked Predator "blatantly" using third-party software while making no effort to hide it.
HisWattson catches rank 31 Predator using hacks in Apex Legends
During a recent stream, Wattson and his squad were playing a Ranked match on the Olympus map. While traversing a POI, the FURIA pro was instantly beamed down by an enemy hiding under a set of stairs.
Immediately sensing something was wrong, Wattson asked his team whether the foe was cheating, as it felt like he was killed a little too quickly.
After heading into spectate, it was revealed that the enemy was "speed hacking" and had an aimbot that meant every bullet landed on the target from any range.
It turns out one of the opponents Wattson faced was rank 31 on the Predator ladder, and despite this, they were making no effort to hide their hacks. This demonstrates how confident they are about not getting banned.
Wattson claims he's "never seen cheaters this bad" in Apex Legends
Taking to Twitter, HisWattson decided to voice his opinion on the prevalence of hackers at the moment, arguing he's "never seen cheaters this bad" in the game's history.
According to him, every "lobby has multiple cheater teams" that are basically unkillable and wipe the floor with anyone in their path. What makes it worse is that a huge amount of these bad actors have "Pred badges," meaning the anti-cheat is simply failing to detect them for long periods of time.
Ranked being plagued by cheaters compromises the integrity of the mode, so Respawn will need to act fast before further backlash arrives.
