Season 17 of Apex Legends introduced Ballistic and the World's Edge map changes, but one of the biggest shakeups in the meta was the L-STAR being added to the Care Package and being significantly buffed.

The patch added Disruptor Rounds to the gun, improved its recoil pattern, and reduced VFX brightness to make it easier when tracking targets.

These changes have made the L-STAR a monster in the Outlands, especially in long-range gunfights. Well, Philip "ImperialHal" Dosen faced the wrath of the L-STAR in a recent match and was left extremely frustrated, labelling the gun as unbelievably 'broken.'

Not long after Season 17 went live, ImperialHal jumped into the Firing Range and started testing out all the new changes. After using the L-STAR for a few seconds, he immediately knew the gun was going to be a powerhouse in the meta as it was obliterating targets at long range.

The TSM pro then decided to jump into a match on Olympus, and while taking on foes at close-range, he was beamed by the buffed L-STAR from a distance. This left Hal immensely frustrated and sparked him to shout "that gun is broken" on stream after it took him down in a matter of seconds.

Luckily, Hal's teammate Zach "Zachmazer" Mazer had an L-STAR as well and managed to come out on top, securing the victory for the CEO and the rest of the squad.

Will the L-STAR get nerfed in Apex Legends?

L-STAR Apex Legends LMG

Season 17 hasn't been live for long, so it's hard to know whether the L-STAR will get nerfed just yet. However, as the gun is limited to the care package and is hard to find in most matches, Respawn may opt to leave the LMG at its current power level.

Either way, if you get the chance to equip the L-STAR in your matches, it's key you pick it up and make the most of it. It's especially deadly at long-range and when hip-fired at close quarters, so don't be afraid to play aggressively with the weapon.
